Occupation: Designer and Founder, Sydney Evan

Style icon: Ralph Lauren. Everything about him is classic and elegant. He never gets it wrong.

One thing you never leave home without:  I wear my mini yellow-gold hamsa on red coral beaded bracelet every day. A lot of people don’t know this, but my when I was a child, my mother who was very superstitious, would sew a little bit of red into all my clothes. She believed it kept us protected. I’ve carried this with me and I often gift this piece because it’s so sentimental to me.

Favorite vacation destination: Cannes. I’ve been going every year since my early 20’s to relax with friends and family. It’s like a second home for me because of my French roots.

Trends you’re loving right now: All the new Vans-inspired sneakers in luxe fabric… finally a break from high heels!

Where do you find inspiration?: Everywhere I look really. It could be a piece of fabric, an architectural element, something I see on my travels.  I’m also inspired by watching my customers, especially on Instagram. I love seeing the way they layer my pieces and make them their own!

Favorite piece of jewelry: My large pave diamond mammoth ivory bracelet and my Cartier Ballon Bleu are my go-to statement pieces. My number one favorite piece right now though is my Sydney Evan charm necklace on a long belcher chain.  I keep adding to it!

What you’re listening to right now: Donna Summer, Stevie Knicks, Tom Petty and Adele are in the current rotation.

Latest splurge: A Chanel Mini Classic Flap Bag with silver hardware.

Best jewelry/accessories advice: Whatever your personal style, jewelry is a great way to make a statement about who you are and what’s important to you. Purchase quality, meaningful pieces. You’ll cherish them forever and be able to pass them down through generations.

How did your love necklaces and love rings come to be?:  One day I was sitting in a meeting, doodling in my sketchbook as I often do. I scrawled out the word "love" in my cursive handwriting and loved the way it looked so I had it made into a necklace and a ring. Both pieces were worn by several celebrities and picked up by the press which created a huge demand. The collection evolved to include several other inspirational words. Recently after many requests, we launched our custom diamond script necklaces, allowing customers to create their own pieces with a name or word that is meaningful to them.

What’s one thing people would be surprised to find out about you? I rode a Harley motorcycle in the 90’s. It was outrageously fun, but I sold the bike when I had kids. I still have my license though, just in case!
